No Atheists
In A Foxhole

Rudyard Kipling

" “When you're left wounded on
Afganistan's plains and

the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle

and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur

" “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”

“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.”
“Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace,
for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .”
“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Pakistan's impotent war of a thousand cuts to rip Kashmir from India
Wednesday, December 03, 2008
Previous. The treatment of minorities in Pakistan is no better. Pakistan cannot claim to be exemplar in this area but actually both countries have enormous problems with their religious and ethnic minorities. The Dec. 13 of 2001 attack by Pakistan-based Islamic terrorists on the Indian Parliament was a signal of how deadly and audacious these forces have become. It was an attempt to wipe out India's political leadership and to bring about chaos in the world's largest democracy.

These Islamist terror groups, nurtured in jihad by religious schools, are instruments of what Pakistani officials call their war of "a thousand cuts" against India. That is the official war policy of the Pakistanis. Death by a thousand cuts is a western myth of a Chinese torture also known as Slicing or Ling Chi . The idea is to kill someone by slicing small pieces of skin or flesh over a long period of time. It is gruesome to think about, but the phrase “death by a thousand cuts” has now passed into modern English use and describes a slow lingering degradation or destruction. One thing, which the Pakistani Army has understood, is that it will not be able to take Kashmir by open warfare. It is simply not powerful or big enough to do so. It is not economically as strong, nor is it militarily as strong.

Despite Kashmir being on the tip of the tongue of every notable, Pakistan will not be able to wrest it away, simply because the internal tensions will just tear Pakistan apart. On the other hand, it is like the dog chasing after cars. Theoretically speaking, if the dog did catch the car, then what? Will he live happily ever after? No way are the Indians going to allow this. Pakistan will have to pay a price, a big one at that. Remember Kashmir has Hindus too, who were the original inhabiatants and still exist until today. They have been living there continuously for centuries prior to the existence of Islam. They have a recorded history in Kashmir for thousands of years and have also been mentioned in the Mahabharata. Remember these were foreign Muslim rulers who were lording it over the Indians, they were never Indians. They were Persians, Arabs and a motley mix of Central Asian Barbarians. Now they call themselves Pakistanis. There were never Pakistanis or Pakistan, only Indians.

During the Islamic period of the Kashmir valley, hundreds of temples in Kashmir were destroyed. As a result, Kashmiri Pandits gradually migrated to other parts of India to escape persecution. Some Kashmiri pandits and buddhist were forcefully converted which in time resulted in Kashmir becoming predominantly Muslim. From the 14th century due to the growth of Islam and forced conversions into Islam their numbers of in the valley began to diminish and the Muslims by spreading Islam began to outnumber them. More here...

Here is an extract from Malaysiakini by Global Citizen on the case of The case for reporting religion fairly. He actually compares Paksitan with India.

If we have a perspective setting here, first, let's get one thing straight. India has a minority group Sikh prime minister, a Tamil minority finance minister now home minister, a former Tamil Muslim president who was loved by all Indians. Can one offer the same spectrum in leadership for Pakistan or any other Muslim country?

Second, as US former secretary of defence Colin Powell said, poverty isn't the root cause for terrorism. There are poor Indians period. But Islamic terrorism is global and not just in India. Christian and Hindus are oppressed in Pakistan. Bangladesh has 10-15 million refugees in India with many suspected as insurgents. Every country bordering with India has refugees in India from Tibet, Nepal, Myanmar and so on. China is happily the largest supplier of arms to all them with nukes to Pakistan. Mumbai was India's financial center with its Sensex being one of the best performing bourse in the world.

It's only weakness was the global market. Yet India's economy is dynamic. This places it in a an invidious position by others in the region. Give India a break .

Historically, millions of Hindus have been killed by the Muslim invasions of India . Is there a Muslim country that has been so forgiving and integrative? Malaysiakini
